Because of the new baby and internal renovation work on our addition, I have decided to let Tiffany take charge of a new plot of garden, whereas Odelia would take charge of the existing one. We have decided to expand the same plot where we grew squash last year. The total size would be 16' x 20'. Small but I believe it is better to start small and manage the land well.
We are installing hardware cloth fence around the new garden. We are going to plant 75 new strawberry plants with weed barrier underneath. That would take up half of the new garden's space.
We will continue to use wood chips as mulch. The main difference is the new garden is not a Square Foot Garden, rather it would remain as the traditional row garden.

Digging trench around the new garden so that the fence can be installed 2" below soil level. This is to prevent any digging pests trying to tunnel into the garden. |
